INGREDIENTS
1. Onions - 2 Cups
2. Sesame Seeds - 2 Teaspoons
3. Coriander Seeds - 2 Teaspoons
4. Groundnuts - 2 Tablespoons
5. Cumin Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
6. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Teaspoon
7. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
8. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
9. Curry Leaves - 1/2 Cup
10. Green Chillies - 2
11. Tamarind Paste - Paste of 30 Grams Tamarind
12. Coconut Powder - 2 Tablespoons
13. Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon
14. Salt - 1 Teaspoon

Let's prepare masala first. Heat pan and fry 2 tablespoons groundnuts till they give out a nice smell. Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds and fry. Add 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, 2 teaspoons coriander seeds and fry. Add diced onions and fry for 2-3 minutes. Let the mixture cool down. Heat 2 teaspoons oil in pan. Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, chopped onions and Close the lid. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt. In the mean time, grind the previously fried ingredients into a soft paste. After onions turn brown, add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix. Fry for sometime and add curry leaves, chopped green chillies and mix. Add 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and mix. Add previously grinded masala paste and mix. Add desired quantity of water. Here 1 1/2 cup water is added. Add tamarind paste. Tamarind juice also could be used. For video on how to prepare tamarind paste see the link in description. Mix and add 1 teaspoon jaggery. Cook on low flame. Add 2 tablespoons coconut powder and mix. Cook for 5 more minutes till gravy thickens and oil starts to float. Serve with any biryani.
