Braised Pear With Caramel Sauce | Pear Pairings | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Poached pears make an elegant dinner party dessert, with caramel sauce and icecream.

BRAISED PEAR WITH CARAMEL SAUCE

Ingredients

2 medium USA Pears
1 tbsp butter
3-4 tbsps castor sugar
¼ cup fresh cream
Scoops of vanilla ice cream
Fresh mint sprigs for garnishing

Method

1. Peel the USA Pears, cut into quarters lengthwise and deseed.
2. Heat butter in a non-stick pan. Add pear and cook till they soften and turn golden brown.
3. Add castor sugar, mix and cook till it caramelizes. Put the pears on a plate.
4. Add cream to the same pan and mix well. This is caramel sauce.
5. Put cooked pears in a serving bowl. Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle some caramel sauce on top and serve immediately garnished with mint sprig.
