A hot and spicy fish curry to spice up your taste buds like never before. It's extremely comforting, easy to make and a definite treat to the taste buds. FISH AMBOTIKIngredients4-5 surmai darnesSalt to taste½ tsp turmeric powder½ tsp red chilli powder1 tbsp kokum pulpSpice paste2 tsps cumin seeds2 tsps coriander seeds3-4 cloves½ inch cinnamon stick1 cup scraped fresh coconut3 dried red chillies1 tbsp chopped garlic½ tbsp chopped ginger2 tbsps kokum pulpGravy2 tbsps oil2 medium onions, finely choppedSalt to taste2-3 green chillies, slit1 tbsp tamarind pulpMethod1. Take surmai darnes in a bowl, add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and kokum pulp and rub the spices well on each darne. Set aside for 30 minutes.2. To make the spice paste, dry roast cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cloves and cinnamon stick in a pan till fragrant.3. Put coconut in a blender jar, add roasted spices, dried red chillies, garlic, ginger, kokum pulp and ½ cup water and blend to a fine paste. 4. To make the gravy, heat oil in a deep pan, add onions and sauté till golden brown. 5. Add blended paste and sauté well. Add salt, mix, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes or till the oil is separated. 6. Add 1¼ cups water and stir, cook for 1-2 minutes. Slide in the marinated fish darnes and gently stir. Add green chillies and tamarind pulp and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes. 7.
