सांबर रेसिपी / HOMEMADE SAMBAR RECIPE | Indian Mom's Kitchen

In this Sambhar recipe, I have shown you how to make sambhar without readymade powder. The taste of this sambhar is just like the traditional South Indian sambhar which is still made in the villages of south India. Freshly ground spices add flavour and aroma to this real sambhar which can be enjoyed with idli, dosa, vada or even plain steamed rice. So let's head right into the kitchen and make this yummy authentic, original South Indian sambhar without readymade sambhar powder.
Ingredients in the order of instructions:
3/4 cup Tuvar dal
1/4 tsp Haldi/Turmeric
1/2 tsp Hing/Asafoetida
Lemon sized ball of Imli/Tamarind
Hot water for soaking Imli
2 Tomatoes
3 Green Chillies
3 Bhindi/Okra/Lay's Finger
1 Drum stick
1 Baingan/Brinjal
1 Madras Kakdi
1 piece Red Pumpkin
1 Onion
Water as required
1/4 tsp Turmeric/Haldi
Salt to taste
1 tbsp Oil
FOR SAMBHAR MASALA:
1 tsp Rice
1 tsp Cumin/Jeera
1/2 tsp Methi/Fenugreek seeds
2 tbsp Dhania/Coriander seeds
1 tsp Chana dal
Few Kadipatta/Curry leaves
7 dry Red Chillies
1 tsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
1/2 tsp Hing/Asafoetida
A little Water
1 tsp Jaggery/Gud
A little Dhania/Coriander leaves
FOR THE TADKA:
1 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard/Rai seeds
1/2 tsp Jeera/Cumin
1/4 tsp Methi/Fenugreek seeds
3 dry Red Chillies
A few Kadipatta/Curry leaves
