Kharabath/masalabath/tomatobath/sooji upma/rava kichadi | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Kharabath is very similar to tamilnadu style sooji upma but with a twist.The special ingredient that gives a good flavor is vanghi bath masala powder.

Ingredients:
Sooji/ Rava - 1 cup
Oil- 2 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Onion-1
Green chillies- 3
Grated ginger- 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes- 1
Peas- 1/4 cup
Carrots- 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Water-3 cups
Salt-3/4 tsp
Vangibath powder- 1 tsp
Ghee- 1 tbsp
Shredded coconut- 1 tbsp(optional) - You can sprinkle it on top

Directions:
1.Heat 2 tsp oil/ghee.Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
2. Add onion, green chillies and ginger. Saute until onion is translucent.
3. Add and saute tomatoes for 2 minutes.
4. Then add peas,carrots and turmeric powder. Saute till the vegetables are soft.
5. Add water, salt and vangibath powder. Let it boil.
6. Add roasted rava. Let it cook for 5 minutes in low flame.
7. After the rava is cooked well, add 1 tablespoon ghee
8. Mix well and serve hot.

Kharabath is ready!!
