A mildly spiced prawn curry flavoured with coconuts is a Goan-special recipe which is comforting and easy to cook!PRAWNS HOOMANIngredients12-16 medium prawns, peeled and deveined½ tsp turmeric powder½ cup scraped fresh coconut8-10 garlic cloves1 tbsp coriander seeds1 tsp cumin seeds6-8 dried red chillies, stemmed1 tbsp tamarind pulpSalt to taste4 green chillies, slit3 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves2-3 tbsps oil2 medium onions, chopped2 medium tomatoes, chopped1 medium radish, grated¼ cup coconut milkFresh coriander sprig for garnishMethod1. Take prawns in a bowl. Add salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.2. Transfer coconut, garlic, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chillies, tamarind pulp, remaining turmeric powder, salt, 2 green chillies, 1 tbsp coriander leaves in a blender jar. Add 1 cup water and grind to a fine paste.3. Heat oil in a deep nonstick pan. Add onions and sauté till translucent.4. Add tomatoes, remaining green chillies, salt and sauté till tomatoes are pulpy.5. Add the ground paste and mix well. Add radish, 1 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.6. Add ½ cup water and mix well. Add marinated prawns and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Add coconut milk, remaining coriander leaves and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes.7.
