Masoor dal cooked in proper rich restaurant style. RESTAURANT STYLE LAHORI DALIngredients 1½ cups whole red lentils (masoor dal), soaked for 2-3 hoursSalt to taste¼ teaspoon turmeric powder4-5 garlic cloves, finely chopped3 green chillies, slit¼ cup milk-cream mixture3 tablespoons ghee2 tablespoons garlic cloves, crushed1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)1 large onion, finely chopped½ teaspoon red chilli powder½ teaspoon garam masala powder1 teaspoon lemon juiceGinger strips for garnishingMelted ghee for garnishingMethod1. Heat a pressure cooker. Add lentils, salt, turmeric powder and 1 cup water. Cover and pressure cook till the pressure is released 5-6 times. 2. Remove lid, add chopped garlic, 1 green chilli, milk-cream mixture, mix well and cook for a minute. Add ½ cup water, mix and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside3. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add crushed garlic and sauté till the slightly browned. 4. Add cumin seeds and once they begin to change colour, add remaining green chillies and sauté for a minute. 5. Add onions, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add salt, chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well. 6. Add the cooked lentil mixture, mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
