Tofu mixed with vegetables and shaped into balls, fried till crisp and tossed in a flavourful teriyaki sauce to treat your taste buds!

TERIYAKI TOFU BALLS

Ingredients

2 cups grated tofu
2 tbsps teriyaki sauce
2 tbsps chopped red capsicum
2-3 tbsps chopped cabbage
2-3 tbsps chopped carrots
2 tbsps chopped yellow capsicum
2 tbsps chopped spring onion greens
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
2 tsps soy sauce
4 tbsps cornflour
2 tbsps oil +for deep frying
2 spring onion bulbs, chopped
1 tbsp chopped garlic
½ tbsp chopped ginger
6-8 broccoli florets, blanched
2 tsps toasted white sesame seeds
Spring onion greens for garnish

Method

1. Take tofu in a bowl. Add red capsicum, cabbage, carrots, yellow capsicum, spring onion greens, salt, crushed black peppercorns, 1 tsp soy sauce and mix well.
2. Add corn flour and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and roll into balls.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Slide into hot oil and deep fry till golden brown and crisp.
4. Drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
5. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a nonstick pan. Add spring onion bulbs, garlic, ginger and sauté for a minute.
6. Add teriyaki sauce, remaining soy sauce, salt, crushed black peppercorns and mix well.
7. Add fried tofu balls and toss well. Add broccoli florets and mix.
8. Sprinkle white sesame seeds and toss well.
9. Transfer into a serving plate, sprinkle white sesame seeds, spring onion greens and serve hot.
