Air-fried Spinach vada | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Guilt free Air-fried Keerai Vadai:

Masal vadai is famous south Indian snack variety, specially popular on muggy and rainy evenings with masala tea, it is the most favorable snack for the family that we enjoy.

It is made with channadal and onions. You can make Keerai(greens) vadai and vazhaippo(Banana flowers) vadai with the same basic recipe. You can deep fry them in oil or Air fry them to enjoy as a guilt free snack.


Ingredients:
Channadal-1 cup
Red chillies-3
Green chillies-2
Fennel seeds-1 teaspoon
Salt-3/4 teaspoon
Hing- 1/4 teaspoon
Spinach or any greens-1 cup
Onion-2
Oil or butter spray-Optional


Directions:
1. Soak channa dal, red chillies, green chillies and fennel seeds together for 2 hours.
2. Strain the water completely .
3. Add salt and hing. Pulse everything together in mixie at intervals until coarse consistency. (Do not grind- you will not get crispy Vadas).
4. Add spinach and onion. Mix it well.
5. Take a small amount of dough and pat it into thin disc.
6. Preheat air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 minutes.
7. Place thin discs on inner tray.
8. Spray oil or butter on top (optional).
9. Airfry for 8 minutes. Flip the Vadas after 4 minutes
10. Note: Air fryer timings changes with different brands. So Airfry until golden brown and crispy.

Air-fried Vadas are ready!!!
