Veppampoo(Neem flowers) Rasam

Neem tree (Veppa maram) is a popular tree for its medicinal values in India.
Neem is the best remedy for Pitta and Kapha related disorders. It is one of the well-known detoxifiers which can cure skin diseases, worms, thirst, nausea, fever, obesity, and diabetes. It has antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, and hypoglycemic properties.

Mostly in South India, people use Veppampoo for a number of dishes like pachadi, rasam, lentils, and more.

You can prepare this rasam using neem flowers within 10 minutes!!!

Ingredients:
Diluted tamarind pulp- 2 cups
Turmeric powder-= 1/2 teaspoon
Salt-3/4 teaspoon
Diluted pressure cooked dal water- 1.5 cups
Red chillies-2
Mustard seeds-1/2 teaspoon
Toordal-1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
Curry leaves- 1 sprig
Neem flowers- 3 teaspoons
Butter-4 teaspoons

Directions:
1 Add turmeric powder and salt to the diluted tamarind pulp and boil until the raw smell of tamarind disappears.
2.Add diluted pressure cooked dal water and keep it on low flame until froth forms on top.
3.Heat 2 tsp oil. Add mustard seeds.Let them splutter.Then add red chillies and toor dal.
4.Fry until dals turn golden brown. Add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Switch off the flame.
5.Add this fried ingredients to the rasam.
6.Heat 2 tsp butter. Fry neem flowers for 20 seconds and then add it to the rasam.

Veppampoo rasam is ready!!!
