American Chop Suey (1958)


1. Drain mushrooms and reserve about 1/4 cup of juice.

2. Heat oil in a large skillet.

3. Add beef, onion and celery, and saute until lightly browned.

4. Add bean sprouts, consomme and mushrooms.

5. Mix cornstarch with reserved mushroom liquid until smooth.

6. Stir into beef mixture.

7. Cook, stirring, for 10 minutes.

8. Stir in soy sauce.
