1. Sauté apples in a small amount of butter and sprinkle with 1 Tbsp of sugar. Cook till tender; set aside. 2. In a shallow pan combine 2 Tbsp sugar, milk, eggs, juice, zest, salt and liqueur. 3. Dip bread in this mixture, be careful not to over soak the bread. Transfer to a plate. 4. Cover half the slices with the apples. 5. Cover with remaining bread to make sandwiches. 6. Heat butter and oil over med. heat and sauté the bread until golden. About 7 minutes per side. 7. Serve hot with ginger sauce. 8. Ginger sauce: 9. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. 10.
