1. In a large pot, melt the butter and saute onion until translucent. 2. Add cloves, cardamom pods, bay leaves, peppercorns, cinnamon and cumin seeds. 3. Saute two to three minutes. 4. Add rice, water, salt, saffron and peas. 5. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to simmer. 6. Cook with lid on for 20 minutes. 7. Turn off heat and let sit for five minutes with lid on. 8.
