1. Cream sugar and butter.

2. Add beaten yolks, blend until smooth.

3. Beat egg whites until stiff.

4. Sift salt and flour together.

5. Add egg whites and salt/flour to mix (slowly), ending with flour mix.

6. It is best to alternate the two.

7. Add at end the lemon/orange peel.

8. Spoon mixture on bottom of 10"x6"x5" pan-.

9. Place berries or cherries on top.

10. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar if you like.

11. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
