French Loaf Pizza (With Italian Sausage)


1. Preheat oven to 300°F

2. In skillet, over medium heat, brown sausages. Remove with slotted spoon, set aside & keep warm; drain excess fat.

3. Sauté garlic & onion 2 – 3 mins, until soft.

4. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano & pepper. Simmer for 15 mins, stirring occasionally.

5. Slice off the top of the loaf of bread (or rolls) lengthwise. Scoop out the centre of the loaf leaving a 1” shell.

6. Spread ½ of the tomato mixture into the hollowed loaf. Layer the sausage over the tomatoes. Top with remaining tomato mixture. Sprinkle the mozza & cheddar cheese on top & replace the top of the loaf.

7. Double wrap loaf in heavy aluminum foil & place on a cookie sheet.

8. Bake for 1 ½ hrs (or 1 hr for dinner rolls).

9. Remove from oven & let set for 20 minutes.

10. To serve, cut loaf into 2” slices.
