1. Cream together: butter, sugar and eggs. 2. Sift together: flour and spices. 3. Add baking soda to buttermilk. 4. Add flour mixture to egg mixture a little at a time, alternating with buttermilk until well mixed. 5. Fold in preserves and chopped nuts. 6. Mix in vanilla extract. 7.
