Gewurzplatzchen (Spice Cookies)


1. Cream butter, shortening, and brown sugar thoroughly.

2. Blend in egg and molasses.

3. Sift together the remaining ingredients.

4. Stir into sugar mixture.

5. Shape dough into 3/4-inch balls.

6. Place 2-inches apart on greased baking sheets.

7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass that has been greased and dipped into sugar.

8. Bake in preheated 350°F for 12-15 minutes.

9. Cool cookies on racks and store in airtight tins.
