1. Add onions to boiling salted water. 2. Cook for 10 minutes, or until almost tender. 3. Drain. 4. Slowly melt butter along with brown sugar in a large heavy frying pan. 5. Cook over low heat, stirring to mix. 6. Add onions. 7. Cook until onions are tender and almost all the syrup clings to them, about 15 minutes. 8.
