1. Heat olive oil in a large pot. 2. Add chopped onion, 1 tsp salt & the pepper. 3. Saute' onion until soft. 4. Add tomatoes & 1 teaspoons salt. 5. Stir well. 6. Lower heat & simmer partially covered for 45 minutes. 7. Meanwhile, cook penni according to directions. 8. Drain well. 9. Rinse in HOT water. 10. Toss with fresh basil. 11.
