Moroccan Meatballs


1. Heat olive oil in a pan. Add the onions, garlic and prepared spices; sauté for about 5 minutes or until softened.

2. Remove half of the mixture to a clean bowl to cool for the meatballs.

3. Add the tomatoes and sugar to the remaining onions in the pan, season and simmer for about 15 minutes until reduced.

4. Add the chopped herbs, egg, ground beef and the breadcrumbs to the cooled onion-garlic mixture, then season and mix everything well with your hands. Shape into walnut-sized balls.

5. Heat the remaining oil and fry the meatballs until golden. Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for a few minutes until they're cooked through; about 5-10 minutes.
