Mother'S Apple Cake


1. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs.

2. Mix dry ingredients together.

3. Mix alternately with orange juice adding to the shortening mixture.

4. Put one half of mixture in loaf pan.

5. Spread with jam.

6. Grate apples coarsely over the jam.

7. Put remainder of mixture on top, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon mixed with 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

8. Bake 350F 45 minutes.
