1. Melt butter in a sauce pan, add the flour, salt and milk and cook until thickened. Let cool.

2. Beat whites until stiff. Beat yolks in a separate bowl. Blend the yolks into the cooled white sauce. Fold the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Melt the shortening in an electric skillet over low heat around 300. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes. Add your own filling -- cheese, ham, bacon.
