1. In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; add onion, garlic, and pepper flakes and cook until onion is translucent, about 6 minutes. 2. Add sausage and brown, while breaking up with a fork or wooden spoon, about 3 minutes. 3. Add wine and simmer 1 minute; add tomatoes and fava beans. 4. Let saute until tomatoes begin to soften, about 5 minutes; season with salt and pepper. 5. Meanwhile cook pasta in boiling salted water until al dente; drain, reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid (return pasta to pot). 6. Add the sauce to the pasta in the pot and toss, over medium heat, until sauce coats pasta (about 2 minutes); add reserved cooking liquid as needed. 7.
