Potato Apple Au Gratin


1. Set oven to 350.

2. Boil sliced potatoes for about 30 mins in salted water, drain and pat dry.

3. Grease baking pan (9"x13" or smaller).

4. While potatoes are drying, melt butter and sauteed chopped onions and apple slices in frying pan until soft, add dash of nutmeg.

5. Heat 2 cups of cream in a small sauce pan, add sliced garlic. Once boiling reduce to low and simmer until cream is slightly reduced.

6. Add 1 tsp thyme to cream.

7. Arrange boiled potatoes on bottom of pan, add layer of apples & onions, top with remainder of potatoes. (if you like ham, saute ham with onions and apples and add in this layer).

8. Pour hot cream over potato apple mixture and poke through in a few places to be sure the cream get to the bottom of pan.

9. Top with favorite cheese, I used gruyere.

10. Top with bread crumbs and parsley if desired.
