Savoury Tomato Sauce

1. Heat the butter and oil in a saucepan.

2. Add the onion and garlic and fry until golden.

3. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato purée, stock, mace and herbs.

4. Bring to the boil, stirring.

5. Reduce heat and cover.

6. Simmer gently for 20 minutes.
