1. Preheat oven to 350 F. 2. Cream butter and sugar until smooth. 3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. 4. Add vanilla and stir in sour cream. 5. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients and stir into wet ingredients until just mixed. 6. In another bowl, combine all ingredients for topping except the apples. 7. Toss the topping with the sliced apples. 8. Scrape the cake batter into a 9x12 inch cake pan and level. 9. Arrange the apple topping over the batter. 10. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean. 11.
