Spanish Pastelillos (Meat Pies)


1. Dough: Cut butter into sifted flour and salt until like.

2. cornmeal. Add enough water to make firm dough. You can do this in the food processor.

3. Cover andchill.

4. Filling: Fry green peppers, onion, salt in olive oil.

5. garlic, olives, capers, Italian seasoning, pepper and paprika.

6. Add meat and brown. Add tomato sauce and simmer until cooked.

7. set aside to cool.

8. Roll out dough on lightly floured board ntil thin.

9. Cut into 4-inch rounds. Place 2 tablespoons filling in center.

10. Brush edges with egg yolk.

11. Fold in half and firmly press edges together.

12. Fry at 375 degrees in deep fat until golden brown.
