The classic moong dal halwa gets an unusual yet delicious twist. APPLE PINEAPPLE SURPRISEIngredients1 red apple1 pear½ medium pineapple, peeled½ cup Tata Sampann Moong Dal3 tbsps ghee½ cup sugar½ tsp green cardamom powder3 tbsps castor sugar½ tsp cinnamon powderSugar syrup for glazingMint sprig for garnishMethod1. Preheat the oven at 180˚C. Grease an aluminium cake tin with a removable base.2. In a blender jar, add Tata Sampann Moong Dal and blend to a coarse powder. 3. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add the coarsely ground moong dal and mix well. Keep sautéing on medium heat till golden brown in colour.4. Add 2 cups water and mix well. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes. Mixing occasionally.5. Add sugar, green cardamom powder and mix well. Cook till the sugar is dissolved completely and moong dal is cooked.6. Add the prepared mixture into the greased cake tin and spread it evenly at the bottom. Bake for 15 minutes. Take it out of the oven and allow to cool completely.7. Place the baked base on a baking tray.8. Cut the apple into half midway and core the seeds. Thinly slice them into roundels. Similarly, slice the pear. Set aside.9. Thinly slice roundels of pineapple and set aside.10. Alternatively arrange the sliced fruits on the prepared base till completely covered. 11. Mix together castor sugar and cinnamon powder in a bowl. Sprinkle this on top of the prepared fruits. 12. Bake at 180˚C for 5-7 minutes. Take it out of the oven and brush sugar syrup on top.13.
