Baguette | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A quick and easy recipe to make the scrumptious Baguette.

BAGUETTE

Ingredients

1¾ cups refined flour + to sprinkle
1 tbsp fresh yeast
3 tsps castor sugar
1 tsp salt
Oil for greasing
Cream cheese to apply
Honey to drizzle
Black coffee to serve

Method

1. Preheat the oven at180˚C.
2. Take yeast in a bowl, add 1 tsp sugar and 1 tbsp warm water. Mix well and set aside to activate.
3. Sift refined flour in a large bowl, add salt and remaining sugar. Mix well. Make a well in centre and add yeast mixture. Add sufficient water and knead well to soft dough.
4. Grease a bowl with oil and add the dough. Cover with a moist muslin cloth and set aside to rest for 20-25 minutes.
5. Dust the worktop with flour and knockback the dough on it.
6. Grease worktop with oil, roll the dough and flatten it, again roll and flatten the dough. Roll and shape into thick long log.
7. Take a tray with a cloth on it. Dust some flour and place the rolled baguette. Place two rolling pins under the cloth on the sides of the log. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
8. Grease a baking tray with oil. Place the baguette dough on it. Make diagonal slits on the baguette. Spray water on top of the baguette.
9. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove and allow to cool.
10. Slice the bread diagonally into slices. Take the slices, apply cream cheese and transfer in a serving plate.
11. Drizzle honey over the slices. Serve with black coffee.
