Baklava | Cooking with California Walnuts | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This popular Middle Eastern sweet can be easily made at home by just following some simple steps. Do try !

BAKLAVA

Ingredients

1 cup melted butter
25-30 filo pastry sheets
1 cup pistachios, blanched and chopped
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup sugar
1 lemon


Method

1. Grease a bake proof bowl with melted butter, place the filo sheet inside, top it with butter.
2. Sprinkle chopped pistachios and walnuts on the filo sheet. Place another sheet on top and repeat the process for all the layers.
3. Cut into diamonds and bake at 180˚C for 25-30 minutes.
4. Heat sugar in a non-stick pan, add 1 cup water and juice of half lemon to make a sugar syrup.
5. Pour the prepared sugar syrup on the baked Baklava and let it rest for 5-7 minutes.
6. Serve.
