Bao | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

These fluffy Bao buns are probably the best things in the world. Do follow the recipe to know how to make it at home.

BAO

Ingredients

2 cups refined flour (maida) + for dusting
2 teaspoons fresh yeast
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons milk powder
1 tablespoon castor sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter

Method

1. Put yeast in a bowl. Add some warm water, mix and set aside to activate.
2. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl. Add milk powder and castor sugar and mix well.
3. Add activated yeast and mix. Add sufficient water, mix and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside to prove for 20-25 minutes.
4. Roll out the dough into a thick disc. Use a small cookie cutter to cut out small roundels.
5. Spray some oil on them and fold into halves. Flatten a bit and set aside to prove for 5 minutes.
6. Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Place the baos in it and steam for 3-5 minutes.
7. Use as required.
