Follow these easy steps to make basic cupcakes at home topped with cocoa frosting.BASIC CUPCAKES WITH COCOA FROSTING Ingredients1 cup + 2 tablespoons refined flour (maida)½ cup butter¾ cup + 2 tablespoons castor sugar¾ cup sour cream2 egg whites1 teaspoon vanilla essence½ teaspoon baking powderA pinch salt¼ cup milkFrosting⅔ cup cocoa powder1 cup butter 2 cups powdered sugar1 teaspoon vanilla essence1 teaspoon milk½ cup vegetable shorteningMethod1. Preheat oven to 180̊ C. 2. Cream together butter and castor sugar till light. Add sour cream and beat. Add egg whites and vanilla essence and beat well. 3. Add flour, baking powder and salt and fold till well combined. Add milk and mix well into a lump free batter. Transfer the batter in a piping bag fitted with a nozzle.4. Pipe out the batter into individual cupcake moulds filling 3/4th. Place them on a baking tray, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould. 5. To make the frosting, cream together butter, powdered sugar and vanilla essence till light. Add milk, shortening and cocoa powder and beat till well combined.
