For Beans Poriyal1 tbsp coconut oil or any other refined oil1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)1 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)1 dry pandi chilli , broken into peices1 tsp finely chopped green chillies1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)1/4 cup finely chopped onions2 1/2 cups chopped french beanssalt to taste6 to 7 curry leaves (kadi patta)1/4 cup freshly grated coconutMethodFor beans poriyalTo make beans poriyal, heat the oil in a kadhai and add the mustard seeds.When the seeds crackle, add urad dal, chana dal, pandi chili, green chillies, asafoetida, onions and saut on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.Add the french beans, salt and cup of water, mix well and cover and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes till they are cooked.Add the curry leaves, coconut, mix gently and cook for another 2 minutes.Serve beans poriyal hot.tips to make beans poriyal1. If you dont have freshly grated coconut you can add desiccated coconut.2 Instead of beans you use cabbage to make cabbage poriyal.3.
