BESAN CHOCOLATE BARFI | Diwali Mithai | Chef Harpal Singh | chefharpalsingh

Besan Barfi is one of the oldest sweets being made since the mughal era. It used to be made during feasts offered by the kings. Popular Indian sweet made during festivals in every home, Besan chocolate Barfi is made with gram flour, ghee and flavored with cardamom and cocoa powder. This homemade recipe makes melt-in-mouth barfi every time!



Besan chocolate barfi
Ingredients Quantity
Gram flour(besan) 200gms(2cup)
Ghee 180gms-200gms(1cup)
Sugar 400gms(2cup)
Water 1cup
Cardamom powder 1tsp
Pista chopped 10-12pcs
Unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 cup(2tbsp)
Saffron 2tsp


Method:-
1. In pan add ghee in it and let it get melt, then add gram flour in it and roast it for at least 15mins.
2. Do not leave it like that on the flame.
3. It will start getting fluffy and light, will get a nutty smell like almond, means your gram flour is ready.
4. Now remove it in a bowl and divide it into 2 parts.
5. Now crush the saffron and ad it in one part of the besan, Keep mixing the gram flour.
6. Now in a pan add sugar and water to make sugar syrup.
7. We have to make one string syrup for the barfi.
8. Now add the sugar syrup in both the bowl of the gram flour and mix it properly.
9. Mix it till the mixture is cool completely.
10. Now add the cardamom powder in the saffron mixture.
11. Now add cocoa powder in the remaining mixture.
12. Mix both the mixture properly and cool it down.
13. Now take the mould and apply ghee in the bottom of the pan.
14. Now spread the bottom with chopped boiled pista and put the saffron mixture spread evenly and let it cool down in the fridge for some time.
15.Now put the cocoa mixture on it and spread it evenly and let it set for 3-4 hours.
16. Now our barfi is ready, demould the barfi,cut the desire shape.
