It's easy to make especially when on vacation in Australia in the airbnb. cooking in airbnb is a great experience and this quick bread upma was made using sourdough bread which I sourced locally from a French bakery. MASALA BREAD UPMA
Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 20-25 minutes
Servings : 2 - 3
Ingredients:
6-7 bread slices (I am using sourdough bread)
1 tbsp cold pressed coconut oil
1/2 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 inch ginger, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp roasted jeera powder (cumin powder)
3 tomatoes, chopped
A splash of water
4 carrots, chopped
1/2 red and green capsium
1 tsp garam masala
large handful of baby spinach
sprouted sunflower
oak lettuce leaves
coriander leaves
lemon juice
Method:
Toast the sliced bread pieces, cube them and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin and mustard seeds.
Add in the ginger, onion.
Add in salt and stir well. Once the onions are light pink in colour.
Add in chilli powder, turmeric powder, jeera powder.
Add in the tomatoes, splash of water. Once the tomatoes are cooked. Add in the carrots.
Add in the capsicums, spinach leaves, Add in the toasted bread slices. Mix well and add in the greens, lemon juice. Mix and serve.
