Bread Upma | Recipes Under 15 Minutes | Chef Jaaie | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Most commonly served in South India, bread upma is a quick, easy breakfast recipe that is filled with masala and looks extremely vibrant!

BREAD UPMA

Ingredients

12 pavs, torn into ½ inch pieces
2-3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
¼ teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
5-6 curry leaves
2 green chillies, chopped
2 medium onions, finely chopped
Salt to taste
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon sugar
4-5 fresh coriander sprigs, chopped + for garnishing

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add cumin seeds and when it changes colour, add asafoetida and curry leaves and let curry leaves crackle.
2. Add green chillies and sauté for 30 seconds. Add onions and salt and sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes or till golden brown.
3. Add turmeric powder and sugar and mix. Add ¼ cup water and mix. Add pav pieces and mix well.
4. Sprinkle some water, cover and cook on low heat for 4-5 minutes. Add chopped coriander sprigs and mix well.
5. Serve hot garnished with coriander sprig.
