This easy to make Brown Rice recipe is healthy and delicious both, plus serves as the perfect option for a quick lunch or dinner.

BROWN RICE

Ingredients

1½ cups Basmati rice, washed, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
1½ tbsps ghee
4-5 cloves
6-8 black peppercorns
3-4 green cardamoms
1½ inch cinnamon stick
2 large onions, sliced
1 tsp granulated sugar
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander sprig for garnish

Method

1. Heat ghee in a deep pan, add cloves, black peppercorns, green cardamoms, cinnamon stick and sauté till fragrant.
2. Add onions and sauté till lightly golden brown. Add sugar, mix well and cook till the onions are caramelised.
3. Add rice, salt and 3 cups water and mix well. Cover and cook till the rice is cooked completely. Take the pan off the heat.
4. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig. Serve as required.
