Buchimgae and That Time I Should've Said Something.

A few years ago, I did a TikTok about my last day of work as a full-time attorney and my first day of work as The Korean Vegan. By that time, many of you had already been following my journey from lawyer to writer and as such, many of you celebrated that moment with me. But one person didnt. She suggested that my rah rah attitude about leaving my full-time corporate gig was sending a dangerous message, one that made dream-chasing look easy and cavalier.

I took the feedback to heart and started thinking about all the different things I did over the course of my career to end up where I didwalking out the doors of my Firm and onto the tiles of my kitchen. The naysayer was right in that dream chasing ISNT for the faint of heart. I talked about it a lot in forthcoming interviews, newsletters, and on my podcast, but I never had the chance to go into the weeds and describe all the small steps I took leading to the ultimate GIANT leap.

Then, @skillshare reached out to me, asking if Id be interested in writing a class for them, particularly on the topic of dream chasing. Huzzah! I finally had a reason to write it all down, show you all the spreadsheets (of course there were spreadsheets), and talk through all the lovely hurdles erected by my Imposter Syndrome. I spent weeks and weeks writing it all down, incorporating stories from those who inspired me, and putting myself back in the shoes of the Joanne who thought her dreams were toast.

You can find my course now, From Passion to Profit: Turn Your Hobby Into A Full-Time Career on Skillshare. This course will cover:

-Objectively evaluating the viability of your dream
-Defining a brand that effectively communicates your unique skill
-Financial planning and budgeting for your dream
-Overcoming Imposter Syndrome to pursue your dream
