A unique recipe of sambhar made using buttermilk and boondi. If you haven't heard of this one, it's time to try it. It's Yummy !BUTTERMILK SAMBHARIngredients1 cup buttermilk3-4 dried red chillies1 tsp cumin seeds1 tsp coriander seeds6-7 black peppercorns2 tsps poppy seeds2 garlic cloves½ cup grated fresh coconut1 tbsp + 1 tsp oil1½ tsps mustard seeds15-18 curry leaves10-12 shallotsSalt to taste¼ tsp turmeric powder½ cup boondiMethod1. Combine dried red chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, peppercorns, poppy seeds, garlic cloves and coconut in a grinder jar. Add little water and grind into a smooth paste.2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan. Add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 8-9 curry leaves and shallots and saute well.3. Transfer ground paste into a bowl, add buttermilk and mix well. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well.4. Add buttermilk mixture to the pan, stir well and simmer till it comes to a boil.5. Add boondi, stir to mix and simmer for 2 minutes.6. Heat 1 tsp oil in another non-stick pan. Add remaining mustard seeds and remaining curry leaves, let the seeds splutter and add this tempering to the sambhar.7. Serve hot.
