CARAMELISED ONION BREAD PREP TIME: 1 HOUR BAKE TIME: 35 MINUTES SERVES: 4-6INGREDIENTS 3 large Onions , sliced50g Butter 2 tbsps vegetable oil 2 1/2 cups Hard flour 100g Margarine 1 tbsp active Yeast1/2 cup Sugar1 tbsp Ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp Salt1 egg, for egg washDIRECTION. Add the butter knob into a saucepan over medium heat, add vegetable oil, sliced onions, stir until caramelised for 15-20 minutes. Take off heat and let cool off completely.. Pour the sugar and yeast into warm water, stir and set aside.. Mix the flour with salt, ground nutmeg then rub in the margarine.. Add the caramelised onions, mix in, then add water and knead until completely mixed in. . Knead on a flat surface until smooth then cut into pieces and knead into small balls.. Place in a greased baking dish, cover and leave to rise for 45 minutes.. Place in a pre- heated oven and bake at 180c for 30 minutes, take out , eggwash and place back in the oven to bake for 5 minutes. . Caramelised onions bread ready to serve.
