Chana Dal Tikki | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This recipe makes for an interesting evening snack or a party appetizer.

CHANA DAL TIKKI

Ingredients

1½ cups split bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 2-3 hours
1 medium onion, chopped
¼ cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chaat masala powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
Salt to taste
2 tbsps gram flour (besan)
Oil for shallow frying
Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

1. In a food processor, add split bengal gram, onion, fresh coriander, green chillies, turmeric powder, chaat masala, garam masala, ginger, and salt. Process to a coarse paste.
2. Transfer the prepared mix in a bowl, add gram flour and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick tawa, place the prepared tikkis and cook on both sides till golden brown and crispy. Drain on an absorbent paper
4. Serve hot along with tomato ketchup.
