Different meats, no meat, different beans, a mix of beans, beer, spicing, etc, etc, etc. You can really make this recipe your own!Ingredients250g (½ pound) bacon, chopped2 small onions, minced2-3 jalapeño, diced500g (1 pound) dry pinto beans15 mL (1 Tbsp) ground cumin10 mL (2 tsp) chili powder1L (4 cups) broth (chicken, pork, or beef)500 mL (2 cups) water6 cloves garlic, crushed1 540 mL (15-ounce) can crushed tomatoes1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, choppedMethod:Rinse beans in a colander.Cook bacon until the fat has rendered out and crispy. Mince and dice the onions and jalapeño.Place the beans, cumin, chili powder, onion, jalapeño, broth, water, crushed garlic, and bacon into slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours. Stir in chopped tomatoes, cover, and cook for an additional hour or until tender.
