Chicken Xec Xec | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Chicken pieces cooked in freshly ground masala to make a delicious lip smacking recipe.

CHICKEN XEC XEC

Ingredients

750 grams chicken, cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons oil
3-4 dried red chillies
1 inch cinnamon
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
10-12 black peppercorns
5-6 cloves
½ cup scraped fresh coconut
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method

1. Put chicken pieces in a bowl. Add ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and turmeric powder and mix. Add salt, mix and set aside to marinate.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Break red chillies and add alongwith cinnamon, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, peppercorns and cloves and sauté till fragrant.
3. Add coconut and sauté till it turns light brown. Add onions, mix and sauté till it turns golden brown.
4. Remove from heat, cool and blend into a fine paste with some water.
5. Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Add tomatoes and cook for a minute. Add the prepared paste and ½ cup water, mix and bring to a boil.
6. Add marinated chicken pieces and mix. Add 1 cup water, stir, cover and cook till the chicken is fully done.
7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
