Date and Walnut Halwa | Cooking with California Walnuts | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A unique and rich halwa made using dates and walnut.

DATE AND WALNUT HALWA


Ingredients

2 cup dates (khajur), seeded and chopped
12-15 walnuts, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons ghee
1 cup milk
1 cup grated khoya/mawa (reduced milk)
½ cup castor sugar
½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
Silver varq for garnish

Method

1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add chopped dates and sauté for two minutes.
2. Add milk and continue to cook until dates are soft and pulpy.
3. Add khoya, walnuts, sugar and green cardamom powder and mix.
4. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or till almost dry.
5. Garnish with silver varq and serve hot.
