DESI SLOPPY JOES

Ingredients

250 grams mutton mince
4 burger buns
2 tbsps oil
1 large onion, chopped
½ tbsp garlic paste
½ tbsp ginger paste
1 cup fresh tomato puree
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1½ tsps red chilli powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
2 green chillies, chopped
3 tbsps freshly chopped coriander leaves
Butter as required
French fries to serve
Onion rings to serve
Lemon wedge to serve

Method

1. Preheat the oven at 180˚C.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onion and sauté till golden brown. Add garlic paste and ginger paste. Mix well and cook for 1 minute.
3. Add tomato puree and mix well. Cook till the oil separates, sautéing occasionally.
4. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and green chillies. Mix well.
5. Add mutton mince, mix well. Add salt and mix well. Cook on high heat for 5-6 minutes, sautéing occasionally.
6. Add chopped coriander and 2 cups water. Mix well, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes.
7. Meanwhile, cut the burger buns in half and apply butter on both sides and toast it for 5-7 minutes.
8. Take the lid off the mutton mixture and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes and take it off the heat.
9. Keep the top of the buns aside. Place a portion of the prepared mutton mixture on top of each bun base.
10. Top each base with a cheese slice and bake for 5 minutes or till the cheese melts. Take it out of the oven and place the top of the buns. Transfer to a serving plate.
11. Serve hot with French fries, onion rings and lemon wedge.
