Mind blowing crumb fried calamari served with gunpowder & spring onion

GUNPOWDER CALAMARI

Ingredients

250 grams calamari/squid
1/4 cup refined flour
¼ cup cornflour
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil + deep frying
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons gunpowder
¼ cup spring onions, chopped
1 teaspoon lime juice

Method

1. In a bowl add flour, corn-flour, black pepper powder and salt to taste. Add sufficient water to make thick slurry.
2. Dip the calamari rings in the slurry and coat well.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick pan and deep-fry the calamari rings. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Heat oil on a non-stick pan, add garlic and sauté till fragrant. Add onions and sauté till translucent.
5. Add gun powder and mix well. Add lime juice, stir and mix well.
6. Add calamari rings and toss. Add some water and stir. Add spring onions, mix and stir well.
7. Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
