Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays! When the end of the year celebrations role around, the memories pile up, and boy do I always feel just a little bit older. Nothing marks the passage of time like the holidays. There's a lot of pros to the aging process, and a few drawbacks, too, according to my knees, back, teeth, memory, and metabolism. The hair on top of my head thinks the drawbacks are getting a little out of hand, but the hair on my back is positively thriving. When the year starts to slide into Christmastime, I always get to thinking. And thinking always, eventually, reminds me to be grateful. Things fall apart; dreams, plans, people, etc. (and by "etc.", I mean "everything"). But look at all those pieces! The end of the year will bow out to the new year, and if you're lucky enough to be there, you can build...something. The close of a year always makes me feel lucky. I feel like I got another one under my belt, another trove of experiences; good experiences, awful experiences, and the cascade of monotonous daily ritual that adds up to a life. In the end, it's all wonderful, because it's how we got here, and now there's nothing but what's ahead.
