Identifying Reishi

Ganoderma tsugae (a.k.a. Reishi or hemlock varnish), is an annual, glossy conk ranging from 2 to 12 inches in diameter with a laterally attached stipe (though sometimes the stipe is absent, for more info see the links below). The internal flesh is bright white all the way into maturity, maintaining a very spongy yet soft texture.
