In this video, I headed down to SMbar at Prinsep Street to demolish a 3.5kg version of their newest menu item, Mala Creamy Noodles! SMbar is a bar that serves affordable drinks and innovative bar food. It also has live performances, sometimes by the owner, Alvin, himself!The dish consisted of around 2 litres of cream reduced down into a thick and luscious sauce, Mala chilli oil that added a pleasingly numbing aftertaste, freshly cut chillies and crispy bacon bits, all tossed with 15 packets of Maggi Instant noodles. For a single portion, it was an interesting dish with rich sweetness followed by a tingling spicy numbness after every bite. The intermittent bits of bacon added a satisfying salty crunch to take away from the numbing sensation.However, with such a massive serving size of cream and numbness, it was truly a calorie-dense and heavy dish which was difficult to complete quickly, especially given my poor spice tolerance and the outdoor heat.
