Kalakand is the most relished traditional sweet and is very easy to prepare at home. This quick kalakand recipe is loaded with dry fruits and flavored with green cardamom.

Ingredients

Mawa – 250 grams
Paneer – 250 grams
Powdered sugar – 1 cup (200 grams)
Ghee – 2 tsp
Almonds – 10-12
Green cardamom – 6

Directions

Getting ready:

1.Thinly slice the almonds, keep them in a bowl and stone grind the green cardamom seeds.

Making:

2.Heat 2 tsp of ghee in a wok. When the ghee melts, add the crumbled mawa to it and roast on medium flame by stirring constantly until slight change in colour. As the ghee starts separating from the edges of the mawa, reduce the flame and add crumbled paneer. Again cook by stirring constantly on medium flame for 6 to 7 minutes.

3.Once the mixture becomes smooth, turn off the flame and allow it to cool down a little. When the mixture cools down a bit, add powdered sugar, green cardamom powder and mix thoroughly. Transfer the mawa-paneer mixture on the greased plate and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the almonds over it and press them gently. Place inside the refrigerator to set.

4.After an hour, kalakand will set. Cut the kalakand into desired size pieces, then slightly heat the plate from bottom to separate the chunks easily from it. Transfer them on a serving plate.

Serving:

5.Serve these tantalizing instant kalakand after any meal as a dessert or have them whenever you crave for something sweet.

Suggestion

Make sure that the mawa-paneer mixture is not too hot or too cold while mixing the powdered sugar into it. It should be warm.
